"I want a divorce."
These were the first 4 words of the book and that alone totally sucked me in!
Leo and Dahlia have been married for a long time. He works. She stays home and takes care of the 2 kids. They have always been a very lovey couple. PDA's were normal for them. Then one day he just stopped. He basically withdrew, not just from her, but from their life together. She has tried for months to get him to come back to her. Nothing is working. He said no to the divorce, but that was not enough of a wake up call for him. So what do a lot of women do when their husband stops paying attention to them? She started to have an affair with someone that still thought she was worth the attention. Of coarse he finds out, and she finally finds out what was causing his withdrawn attitude. They work on getting through these things together!
As I was reading this book I was hit with so many emotions. When she felt rejected, I felt her rejection. When she felt nervous, I felt nervous. When she felt the bile rising after hearing some information, I also felt bile rising! And when she finally felt happy that her husband was coming back to her, I felt that same joy for them. They began to work on their issues with still a lot of story left in the book. I would assume she was feeling like she was waiting for the other shoe to drop, because I sure was.
This was my first Ella Fields book, and it will not be my last. This book exceeded my expectations by far, and they really weren't low to start with.
