Ebbing Tides (book 2 in the Lighthouse Duology) by Kelsey Kingsley

Image
Ebbing Tides (book 2 in the Lighthouse Duology) by Kelsey Kingsley Story: 5 🌟  Swoon: 4 😍  Spice: 3🔥 Angst: 4 💔 So I absolutely LOVED how this story wrapped up.  Poor Max had dealt with so much crap in his life that it was nice to see more and more people show him the love he always deserved.   His sisters both express their appreciation for all that he had done for them over the years.  And while I wouldn't call it closure, he does get some insight as to why his mother and father were the way they were.  Even on his death bed that father of his was a piece of work..... and somehow Max always showed him compassion.  This book also made me cry, though not as bad as the first book did.  And I definitely came to enjoy some of the side characters that already have books that I may be going back to read.

The Tenant by Freida McFadden

Image
The Tenant by Freida McFadden 4🌟 I thought this was a great book.  I very much enjoyed it and could not put it down.  The twists were great and very fun to  read about.  Not a whole lot I can say since I dont want to give anything away...... But it was definitely a good pick!

Falling Stars by Lex Martin

Image
Falling Stars by Lex Martin 4.5 🌟  5 😍  4🔥  3💔 I love Baylee and Maverick!  They are so great together!  Some people dont like the childhood friends to lovers...... but it is one of my FAVORITES!!!  Why didnt they get together sooner, you ask?  Well..... they were best friends!  And Maverick had a crappy father and no mother.  Why wouldn't he want to keep the friendship?  His dad made him feel worthless!  Plus some people do better together when they grow up some first!  Anyways!!!  Baylee was a great mom, despite the fact that being a single mom was NOT what she wanted for herself.  She is stubborn and makes Maverick WORK to get her to believe that this was really happening!  The spice was FIRE!  And Maverick is SO DAMN SWOONY!!!   If you love a single mom romance..... you will definitely want to pick this one up!

Hostile Illusions by India R Adams

Image
Hostile Illusions by India R Adams 4 🌟 I love that I read Hostile Saint first!  Getting Lacey's POV was really great!  To know what she was going through in the hospital while he was trying to get her back was really interesting.  And since I already read Hostile Saint....the cliffhanger didn't get me!

Crashing Waves by Kelsey Kingsley

Image
Crashing Waves by Kelsey Kingsley book 1 in the Crashing Waves Duology   🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Damn y'all.... I was NOT prepared for this book! I went in totally blind to this ARC read.  And when I tell you, I cried so hard!  I had to wear an eye pack to bed!  I am NOT EXAGGERATING!!!   The trauma that Max goes through is just unthinkable!  This book is all from the male POV of Maxwell.  The story starts when he is young.  Being "raised" by parents that should NOT have had children.  His mother is very neglectful (likely due to a severe mental illness) and his father just treats him like shit.  But Maxwell makes some friends and gets through school.  Then enters the military, where he excels!  But that is when he thinks things are all going well...... his life starts to fall apart. Every time things seem to start going well for him, he gets kicked down again. No I will say that this book kind of ends on a cliffhanger....

P.S. You're the Worst by Jane Anthony

Image
P.S. You're the Worst by Jane Anthony 5 🌟 This is your typical ritzy boy falls for a girl from the wrong side of the tracks...... only this girl is a BAD ASS!  She may be from the wrong side of town, but she is holding her own in a world that this man couldn't even dream of surviving in!  This book is a dual POV with Darla and Dylan.  Darla has busted her ass to be where she is. Dylan has skated along doing what his dad wants him to do.  Darla makes him think for himself for once in his life and at a critical point he acts like he can't handle it!  So in comes the little sister to smack him with some reality.  The grand gesture is one of the sweetest things I can imagine !

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Attwood

Image
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Attwood 4 🌟 I rather enjoyed this book.  Not my usual type of book and the writing style is definitely not my cup of tea, but I found myself needing to keep reading to see what happens.  There was a lot of flashing back to the past.... with very little distinction to tell you the change in timeline.  But the story behind all the time changes was very compelling and I needed to know what was happening.  Now the story ends on a kind of cliffhanger because the Handmaid who is telling the story is taken from the home she was staying at and you dont know what happens to her after that.  I havent watched the show but I plan to soon.

Lake and Manning by Jessica Hawkins

Image
Lake and Manning by Jessica Hawkins Book 4 in the Something in the Way series 4 🌟 So Lake and Manning are FINALLY together!  But despite all they have been through to be together, now that they are they have some different obstacles.  The one thing I did not like about this book was that it was entirely from Lake's POV.  We got nothing from Manning at all!  And while I feel like Tiffany has made some strides to be better.... she still seems to be quite petty and childish when it comes to Lake.  And I just still dont like her.  Lake and Manning get married and are living their lie, but they have troubles conceiving their family.  Which causes conflict between them.  Honestly I think that Manning needs to chill out a bit when it comes to Corbin,  but I also understand why he gets bent out of shape.   Overall this was a good book and a GREAT series.  I just wish we could have gotten more Manning POV through this time in th...

Move the Stars by Jessica Hawkins

Image
Move the Stars by Jessica Hawkins book 3 in the Something in the Way series 5 🌟 Oh holy craziness!  So in this book Lake has gone off to find her own life in New York.  Good for her!  She is there for 4 years building her life to something that is HERS and not what others were planning for her.  But the minute Manning shows back up in her life she is right back to where she started. But at least in this book, Manning is more willing to own his feelings and less about beating himself up.  But then, of course, Tiffany has to come back in and destroy all the great plans that Lake and Manning had been making.  Then another few years later, Lake moves back to LA.  Manning and Tiffany were divorced but he has yet to make contact with Lake.  So she just keeps on..... making her life.  But she isnt happy.  She ends up running into him and they make a date for her to come see his new home.   This book ends with a HEA..... but th...

Somebody Else's Sky by Jessica Hawkins

Image
Somebody Else's Sky by Jessica Hawkins Book 2 in the Something in the Way series 4 🌟 When I tell you that Manning is THE most FRUSTRATING man I have read in a LONG time I am not even kidding!  The WREAKS of self loathing!  Totally reminds me of Edward from Twilight in his self deprecation!  But Lake.... that is a girl who KNOWS what she wants and is bold enough to go after it!  Even though it might not be the brightest idea, she goes in full heart out there!  And when this book ends you will be left feeling heartbroken, betrayed and ready for the next book!!!

Something in the Way by Jessica Hawkins

Image
Something in the Way by Jessica Hawkins book 1 in the Something in the Way series 4 🌟 This book was a little slow moving at some points, but considering it is the first of 4 books that was to be expected. The book starts in 1993, Lake is only 16 and she meets Manning, who is 23. In comes Tiffany, Lake's 19 year old sister. Not gonna lie, I don't like her much. But her character serves a purpose, so she is tolerable. There is some kind of pull with Lake and Manning, but given that she is a minor and the age difference, they cant be together. There is NO spice in this book..... but quite a bit of tension and angst. I like Lake and Manning..... so I am looking forward to seeing what more happens. It ends on a semi-cliffy. So now I am off to read the next book!

Road to Absolution by India R Adams 5  🌟 So this is what I THINK is the conclusion of Delilah and Maverick's story (but with India, you never know).  This goes through their life after his car crash and how he tries to rebuild his life with her after it all.  It definitely was NOT the happily ever after we had all been hoping for after all they had been though.  But then again, if it were, what story would there have been to tell?  It's mostly the telling of Maverick and how he comes back from near death.  He can not box anymore so he has to find another way to provide for his wife and child.  And he must figure out how to protect them.  He (and Tucker too) join the Redemption Ryders MC as a way to keep all their families safe.  But he isn't happy in his new situation.  He feels like he is letting his wife down and causing trouble for his MC brothers.  Delilah "lets him go" with the hope that when he spreads his wings...... ...

The Man with a Treasure (The Giordano Mafia, #1) by India R Adams

Image
The Man with a Treasure (The Giordano Mafia, #1) by India R Adams 5 🌟 I have a bone to pick with Inida!  Why do you keep doing this to me!?!?!?!   Getting me all attached and invested in the stories, just to leave me dangling with the cliffhangers!  Ok so this book is more for the story of Scarlett and Angelo.  But this is from Angelo's POV.  And Sal's too.  You get more of the back story as to WHY Angelo is so focused on finding Scarlett!  And why he was so enraptured with her before he even met her!  You also get the back story on his youth, how he and Sal came to be brothers in almost every sense of the word, and how they KNEW to even look for Scarlett!  It was a great story and I can not WAIT to get more of it!

The Girl Without Hands by India R Adams

Image
The Girl Without Hands by India R Adams 5 🌟 CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!   This was a great novella to set the stage for A Man With A Treasure!  This book is mostly from Scarlett's POV but there is some from Angelo too!  This is the story of what she went through before he finds her!  And there is a bit of an easter egg in here too for the Haunted Roads books by Inida!

Bleed Me by India R Adams

Image
Bleed Me by India R Adams   Story: 5🌟 Spice: 4🔥Swoon: 3😍 Angst: 4 💔 This is Kenny's story!  And BOY does he have a story!!! He was kept alive!  He didnt die in a car crash.  And he ends up with the Steel Stallions.  That is how he gets his new start.... and falls in love with Justice!  You get a lot more of his story with this one.  And you do get some POV from Justice.  But the awesome story telling in ON POINT!  And then to come full circle with him saving Maverick when he crashed into the same exact tree that people thought he killed himself with!  Just to make sure that Delilah didn't lost another person she loved!   I was damn near tears with this book.  The things that both Giver (Kenny's road name) and Justice went through to get to where they were able to have a happily ever after is JUST gut wrenching!

Scar Me by India R Adams

Image
Scar Me by India R Adams    Story: 5🌟 Spice: 3🔥 Swoon: 4😍 Angst: 5💔 Literally finished this book in 1 day!!!  This is all Delilah's story!  It goes through her relationship with Kenny..... Art.... and Maverick!  You get a lot more back story on what happened with Kenny and why it tore her to pieces.  But the thing is that you THINK you know why she was devastated, but then you find out something that makes you realize you were not correct in your assumption.  And again this book leaves you hanging with another cliffy!  I had SO many questions that I just had to keep reading.... and then some would get answered only to create more questions! This book is available in KU and definitely worth the read and heartache!

Steal Me by India R Adams

Image
Steal Me by India R Adams     Story: 5🌟 Swoon: 4😍 Angst: 4💔 Spice: 2🔥   I was SO into this book.... which ended on a cliffy (y'all know how I feel about that)..... that I didnt even stop to write my review!  I HAD to jump right into the next book..... and then the next!!!  This is the story of Delilah and Maverick.... mostly from Mav's POV.  Maverick lost his dad and his mom is in the throws of SEVERE grief!  They move to a new town, and thanks to his sister that he takes care of, he meets a group of friends that he happens to just fall in with really well.  He goes to a hang out they are having and that is where he meets Delilah!  It is basically love at first sight..... but she makes him work for it.  And he becomes really good friends with her brother Tucker.  They go through a lot in this small town.  Delilah lost her boy...

Falling for Ryan Part 2 by Tracy Lorraine Story:  4 🌟      Spice:  5🔥      Swoon: 5😍      Angst:  4💔 Since the first one ended on a cliffy I had to go right into part 2! Ryan's mom pissed me off something fierce!  I was glad that Molly came to her senses about a lot of things!  Because I really love her and Ryan together!  And there was A LOT more spice in this book! The story line with Jax an Abbi is compelling and I will have to jump back into this series eventually!
Image
Falling for Ryan Part 1 by Tracy Lorraine Story:  3.5 🌟      Spice:  3 🔥 (mostly a lot of sexual tension)      Swoon: 4 😍      Angst: 3 💔 I didnt even mean to read this because my kindle glitched when I was trying to open another book.  But I kept on with it and ended up really liking it!   Ryan and Molly are best friends..... Molly's childhood best friend was Ryan's girlfriend.  And then she died.  So they helped each other through it.  Eventually they grow closer and she moves in to a spare room in his house.  When they FINALLY decide to give a relationship a try.... something happens and that is the cliffhanger!...

ASPEN by FIONA COLE        Story: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥  So I start with..... THIS  BOOK ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER!!!  Aspen plans to own and run the music company she helped her father build.  Lucian has other plans!  He wants to own it for himself.  But the sexual tension with these 2 is 🔥🔥🔥..... one of the MANY reasons I love Fiona Cole's books is because she is PHENOMENAL at that sexual tension!  Lucian is a Dom.... and Aspen has recently discovered that she MIGHT have a submissive side..... so they decide to explore this.  The scenes are hot!  And the inner turmoil that for Aspen is so relatable!  Lucian has been through a nasty divorce in the past and decides that he needs to marry...... he decided to marry Aspen.  But first he has to convince her.   Now I am chomping at the bit for the follow up book because, while I am sure she decides to marry him (otherwise what kind of romance is thi...

Falling for the Quarterback by SE Rose and Sierra Hill

Image
Falling for the Quarterback by SE Rose and Sierra Hill 3.5 🌟 Read   A short and sweet book with a little spice sprinkled in/  This one night stand turned student teacher romance is a great pallet cleanser.  Great story, little to no angst, fantastic "grand gesture" and even some spice for the ones who need it!  Definitely a book that I will recommend to anyone trying to get in some reads for book challenges!   Being a novella it didnt take long to read and it was still all the things we love about romance ..... minus the angst!

Stealing Heats by Lex Martin     4.25🌟 4🔥      This book was JUST what I needed!  It was hot, fast-paced, a bit of suspense, and a woman-you-love-to-hate!  Brother's best friend, but with the added angst that the brother died Rhett wants to save his family's ranch and the only way he can get a loan is to be married.  Paige needs to rehab an injury, but has no insurance to do it.  So win/win.  And then they go and let feelings get involved.  But with the way that Paige seamlessly fits right into his family with all his brothers, there was no way that feelings wouldn't come about.... not to mention the history and Paige's ch...

Hexed by Emily McIntire   🌟🌟🌟🌟 This was a great book.  Loved the whole thing of Enzo being set up to marry Aria and falling for Vanesa.... the back story was very fascinating.  I felt like the story of how Trent got his empire was very crazy and I was super intrigued as Vanesa was finding out the details.  It was a very slow burn as it was a bit of a love triangle.  But the heat was THERE!  Tension was so good! This entire series was really good and I am sad to see it come to an end..... but I can not wait to see what Emily McIntire come up with next!
Image
Bad Little Bride by Meagan Brandy                    🌟🌟🌟🌟.5 So I tried to read Tempting Little Thief and couldn't get into it...... but reading this one has made me want to go back and try again!  I LOVED Boston!  She was the "spare" basically and she decided to make her own way..... little did she know that Enzo already had his eye on her.  It seemed to be really difficult for her to grasp that he wanted her and not her sister.  The spice was spicing..... and then tension was SO good!   I have loved Meagan's books for so long and she did not disappoint with this one.  I love the mafia ties and the "forced" proximity.  I can not WAIT to get more of these Girls of Greyson!!!
