Ebbing Tides (book 2 in the Lighthouse Duology) by Kelsey Kingsley

Ebbing Tides (book 2 in the Lighthouse Duology) by Kelsey Kingsley Story: 5 🌟  Swoon: 4 😍  Spice: 3🔥 Angst: 4 💔 So I absolutely LOVED how this story wrapped up.  Poor Max had dealt with so much crap in his life that it was nice to see more and more people show him the love he always deserved.   His sisters both express their appreciation for all that he had done for them over the years.  And while I wouldn't call it closure, he does get some insight as to why his mother and father were the way they were.  Even on his death bed that father of his was a piece of work..... and somehow Max always showed him compassion.  This book also made me cry, though not as bad as the first book did.  And I definitely came to enjoy some of the side characters that already have books that I may be going back to read.

The Tenant by Freida McFadden

The Tenant by Freida McFadden 4🌟 I thought this was a great book.  I very much enjoyed it and could not put it down.  The twists were great and very fun to  read about.  Not a whole lot I can say since I dont want to give anything away...... But it was definitely a good pick!

Falling Stars by Lex Martin

Falling Stars by Lex Martin 4.5 🌟  5 😍  4🔥  3💔 I love Baylee and Maverick!  They are so great together!  Some people dont like the childhood friends to lovers...... but it is one of my FAVORITES!!!  Why didnt they get together sooner, you ask?  Well..... they were best friends!  And Maverick had a crappy father and no mother.  Why wouldn't he want to keep the friendship?  His dad made him feel worthless!  Plus some people do better together when they grow up some first!  Anyways!!!  Baylee was a great mom, despite the fact that being a single mom was NOT what she wanted for herself.  She is stubborn and makes Maverick WORK to get her to believe that this was really happening!  The spice was FIRE!  And Maverick is SO DAMN SWOONY!!!   If you love a single mom romance..... you will definitely want to pick this one up!

Hostile Illusions by India R Adams

Hostile Illusions by India R Adams 4 🌟 I love that I read Hostile Saint first!  Getting Lacey's POV was really great!  To know what she was going through in the hospital while he was trying to get her back was really interesting.  And since I already read Hostile Saint....the cliffhanger didn't get me!

Crashing Waves by Kelsey Kingsley

Image
Crashing Waves by Kelsey Kingsley book 1 in the Crashing Waves Duology   🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Damn y'all.... I was NOT prepared for this book! I went in totally blind to this ARC read.  And when I tell you, I cried so hard!  I had to wear an eye pack to bed!  I am NOT EXAGGERATING!!!   The trauma that Max goes through is just unthinkable!  This book is all from the male POV of Maxwell.  The story starts when he is young.  Being "raised" by parents that should NOT have had children.  His mother is very neglectful (likely due to a severe mental illness) and his father just treats him like shit.  But Maxwell makes some friends and gets through school.  Then enters the military, where he excels!  But that is when he thinks things are all going well...... his life starts to fall apart. Every time things seem to start going well for him, he gets kicked down again. No I will say that this book kind of ends on a cliffhanger....

P.S. You're the Worst by Jane Anthony

P.S. You're the Worst by Jane Anthony 5 🌟 This is your typical ritzy boy falls for a girl from the wrong side of the tracks...... only this girl is a BAD ASS!  She may be from the wrong side of town, but she is holding her own in a world that this man couldn't even dream of surviving in!  This book is a dual POV with Darla and Dylan.  Darla has busted her ass to be where she is. Dylan has skated along doing what his dad wants him to do.  Darla makes him think for himself for once in his life and at a critical point he acts like he can't handle it!  So in comes the little sister to smack him with some reality.  The grand gesture is one of the sweetest things I can imagine !

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Attwood

Image
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Attwood 4 🌟 I rather enjoyed this book.  Not my usual type of book and the writing style is definitely not my cup of tea, but I found myself needing to keep reading to see what happens.  There was a lot of flashing back to the past.... with very little distinction to tell you the change in timeline.  But the story behind all the time changes was very compelling and I needed to know what was happening.  Now the story ends on a kind of cliffhanger because the Handmaid who is telling the story is taken from the home she was staying at and you dont know what happens to her after that.  I havent watched the show but I plan to soon.
